Silber (ズィルバー) is the main antagonist of Buriki One.
He is voiced by Hiroyuki Arita.
Development
While other characters (such as G-Mantle, Joker and Gozu) were considered for guest appearances in The King of Fighters XI, Silber was added to match the boss-protagonist theme with Gai Tendo. Originally, he was deemed to not completely fit the series so they made generous tweaks to his effective yet simple moveset.
Story
A mysterious martial artist who fights with karate (Though is said to also be self trained in Sambo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, and many styles of Kung Fu). He interrupted the finals of the Buriki One tournament. Possessing nigh-superhuman speed and agility, he challenged his opponent to a fight to the death. 20 years prior to the events of Buriki One, he traveled to China to challenge Song Xuandao. The two would fight for over an hour, with Song barely coming out on top. [1][2]
Silber has been roaming the world in his pursuit of strength, with his journey being documented not disimilar from a cryptid. He attacked and defeated world wrestling champion Oleg Misha in his Russian home at only 18. A year later, he was sighted near the Italian village of Anchiano, leaping off a cliff and surviving the fall, only to be mistaken for a werewolf by a local housewife. In the late 80s, he was seen easily splitting a large rock in 2 with his barehands on a Japanese riverbank. And in 1993, he was spotted by Arctic researchers fighting a large polar bear in the midst of a blizzard, being mistaken for the Yeti, or potentially even the missing link between humans and their ancient ancestors. [3]
Silber is a pseudonym, meaning silver in German, it seems to be inspired by the color of his hair. His distinct, spiky hairstyle is also said to be an intentional decision to match the image of "the strongest". [1][4]
Rob Python's trainer, Ruth seems to be aware of the legends, referring to him as "A guy who trained solely for the fight itself"[5]
He is also seemingly acquainted with Oswald, but details of their connection are currently unknown.
Personality
Not much is known about Silber. From his limited dialogue, he is seen to be rather blunt and inconsiderate. He responds to defeated foes with single-word insults only, the exceptions to this are only when he defeats Ash, Benimaru, Kyo, Iori and Oswald.
Powers
- Super jump - Silber leaps into the air and crushes the opponent with his leg.
- Earthquake - Silber slams his foot against the ground and knocks the opponent down.
Fighting Style
Very slow with explosive and unpredictable strikes, but otherwise a traditional karateka using a reckless style that is influenced heavily by tameshiwari (karate based object breaking).
Music
- A Declaration of War - Buriki One
- Jack - The King of Fighters XI
Game Appearances
- Buriki One
- The King of Fighters XI (as Silver) - potential mid-boss and unlockable character
Trivia
- In KOF XI, Silber possesses a Super Special Move that has an unknown property when used that only has a super flash startup, but nothing seems to happen and it can only be used once during a match. This is likely a bugged super.
- He has drawn comparisons to the Street Fighter series antagonist Akuma due to similar appearance and entrance.

After finishing my work in the fields, I returned home to find a large man waiting for me, who suddenly attacked me. We fought for about an hour before I finally managed to subdue him. In hindsight, it was luck that allowed me to win. Had even one of his punches landed squarely, I'd be sipping tea in the afterlife right now. He tried to slip away silently, so I asked his name. He said something like “Zilber”. I remember thinking it was a terribly awkward name to say." (Testimony of martial artist Song Xuandao, China)

It seems he pays attention to rather minute details."
