Hon-Fu (Japanese: ホンフゥ; Chinese: 紅虎, lit. "Red/Crimson Tiger") is a character introduced in Fatal Fury 3. He has been voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa ever since his debut.
Development
This nunchaku-wielding fighter was designed to be the next kung-fu fighter after Tung Fu Rue in Fatal Fury: King of Fighters and Cheng Sinzan in Fatal Fury 2. But the developers this time were planning on a "dragon"-based hero which is often seen in most fighting game character archetypes like Kim Dragon from the World Heroes franchise.
Hon-Fu's inspirations came from Hong Kong action comedy films such as Bruce Lee's role as Tung Lung in 1972's The Way of the Dragon, and Jackie Chan's role as Chan Ka-Kui in 1992's Police Story 3: Supercop.
Story
A Hong Kong detective who is always chasing criminals, Hon-Fu is on a case concerning the mass illegal drug trade in Asia. He has a hunch that one of the biggest proprietors in his home country is Ryuji Yamazaki, and he follows the criminal to South Town. He continues to somehow lose sight of the criminal, which is a sort of running gag in the series.
Personality
Hon Fu is very goofy around everyone, especially around girls, but he is also a very serious cop. His natural clumsiness can be disastrous on both the job and any fight, but his good humor usually makes up for it.
He is also on friendly terms with Kim Kaphwan as Hon-Fu apparently introduced him to Myeng Swuk. They both share a strong sense of justice, though Hon-Fu isn't as overzealous as his friend on the matter, given he doesn't like to be bound by the rules to do what he believes is right. For reasons unknown, Hon-Fu is also scared of his comrade and will jump at the slightest mention of Kim's name.
He is also one of Cheng Sinzan's friends as they admire their respective abilities in their fighting styles.

Fighting Style
Hon-Fu uses a Northern style of Kung Fu consisting of acrobatic maneuvers incorporated with the Nunchaku.
