Freeman (フリーマン) is a character from the Fatal Fury series. He made his debut in Garou: Mark of the Wolves.
Story
Freeman is a British serial killer who kills for his pleasure. Nothing is known about his past in discreet detail, other than he was born in the slums of the United Kingdom and thrived on the relentlessness of street fighting. Without direction in the calm of his life, he continued his path of carnage.
He travels to Second Southtown when he learns of The King of Fighters: Maximum Mayhem tournament, hoping to kill strong opponents. One of his victims was Kevin Rian's partner, a former member of the SWAT forces. After the tournament, Freeman was being hunted down by Second Southtown's Police Department. Spotted atop a hilltop countryside residence of his presumably latest victims, Freeman was cornered before being shot by a sniper and fell into the nearby river. The police then looked for his body, but it was nowhere to be found, until the event of City of the Wolves reveals that he has survived this incident.
Two years later, but after the tournament held by Franz Stroheim is over, Freeman attempt kill both Blue Mary and Marky, whom Freeman recognized him as the son of Kevin's partner he murdered. Unfortunately, both Mary and Marky unknownly played a part to distract Freeman, so Terry Bogard and Kevin can finally capture him.
Personality
Freeman is a madman who has a very sadistic and sinister personality. A sociopathic killer, Freeman stimulates himself with the thrill of the hunt and the adrenaline that comes with danger, fighting and killing simply for pleasure. Nothing else is known about his life, not even a full name.

- According to the fan Q&A for the game, his pale skin is actually dyed. They also jokingly state that Freeman getting food is one of the many mysteries of Second Southtown.
- Freeman shares some similarities with Yu Yu Hakusho villain Elder Toguro, mostly regarding shrill voice tone, pale skin (though dyed in Freeman's case), long unkempt hair, martial abilities which include slashing hand techniques, and a sadistic lust for killing with complete disregard for others lives.
- Kim Jae Hoon's English win quote against Freeman "You evil villain! My father is avenged!" led to players believing that Freeman had fought and defeated Kim Kaphwan in the past. This is a mistranslation; the original Japanese line is "You evil villain! I will punish you in the name of my father!"
- Many of Freeman's attacks are named after heavy metal music and bands: Nightmare, Phobia, Gorefest, Overkill, Crow, V.O.D. (referencing either Vision Of Disorder or Voice Of Destruction, or both), and Morbid Angel are all bands. He also has Creeping Death, which is a song by Metallica, and Full Blast, a term commonly associated with music volume. Phobia is the name of a song by German Thrash Metal band, Kreator.
- Gorefest and Overkill are also given to two of Vice's moves in The King of Fighters series.
- Overkill may both refer to the thrash metal band and to the album and song by Motörhead of same name.
- Overkill also may refer to the song by Australian band Men at Work of same name.
